Glossybox October 2012

Hey All -

I'm here with my October Glossybox overview!! I got this box about 2 weeks ago, but just got around to taking pics this past weekend. The theme for this box was Spa Luxe - Let go, Unwind, Restore.

Starting from the left the soap is the Heartland Fragrances exfoliating loofa soap in Peppermint. It says this is a truly unique hand-poured loofa soap encased in gentle glycerin provides the perfect blend of moisture and exfoliation. This soup is designed to improve circulation and is great for exfoliating. I haven't used this yet but this stuff smells amazing!!! I'm really interested to give this a whirl, even though I'm usually not a fan of bar soup. Price of a full size (which this is) is $8 for 6 oz.

The next item is the Alterna Bamboo Luminous Shine Mist. The card says it's an Eco certified shine mist made with Indian gooseberry and organic bamboo that controls frizz and flyaways. It is a brilliant and weightless gloss for any hair type. I haven't tried it yet, but I could certainly use something to help control frizz in my hair. The sample is .85 Fl. Oz and a full size is 4 oz, which retails for $22.00.

To the left of that is the Carol's Daughter Shea Souffle. This is a superbly rich & fast absorbing daily moisturizer containing Shea butter, cocoa butter, and jojoba oil to help you reach your skin's optimal softness. This Shea souffle is non-greasy and free of parabens, mineral oil and artificial colors.  I got mine in Ecstasy which is described as sugared strawberry, island mango and Egyptian musk. I think it smells more musky than anything else and I don't really like the scent. It's not unbearable but it's definitely not my favorite. It also is described as being non-greasy and putting it on my hands it seems pretty greasy. It took a few minutes for it to sink it, but they still felt greasy but they also feel soft. I'm excited to try this on my very dry legs. My sample is 4 oz which is a very nice size sample. Full size of this product is 8 oz and retails for $20.00.

I also got the Modelco Lip duo lipstick & ultra shine lip gloss. It says this is an ultimate pairing in lip color - a flawless, long lasting lipstick & an intense beaming gloss. Each may be worn separately or layered for an individually tailored hue.  The lipstick is called Dusk and the lipstick is called Striptease. As you can see from the swatch below the gloss is on the right, and it's clear you can't really see it. There is some glitter in the gloss, but it's nothing major. Not a lot shows up on your lips. The color isn't necessarily the most flattering color, but I'll give a whirl. The packaging is really nice on this product, but I'm just not a fan of the double ended lipstick & gloss combo. It does have a little mirror on one side of the black part, that is nice. This product retails for $39.00

The last item I received in this months box was the Nastassja Skin Enzyme Facial Peel. The card says this revolutionary facial peel is infused with vitamins and nutrients. It exfoliates with papain, a naturally occurring enzyme in papaya, and gently eliminates dead, dry skin cells to reveal a more radiant you. I'm not going to lie, this product scares me!! I've never used anything that says facial peel so I'm a little hesitant to try this. I will however give it a try and see what it does to my skin. I have read that papaya is good for your skin, so I guess you just never know. My sample is 0.25 oz and full size is $40 for 2 oz.

Glossybox is a monthly subscription service that costs $21 a month, which includes the shipping. You can read more about how it works here.

Wet & Wild Limited Edition Palette - Shimmer the Night Away

Hey All -

I'm here to talk about the other Wet & Wild limited edition palette that I recently purchased. I recently purchased this at Walgreen's. These palettes are from the Where's the Party Collection, just releasing to stores. The collection consists of 3 palettes, Sparkle 'Til Morning, Shimmer the Night Away and then a third one called Drinking A Glass of Shine. This palette is a re-release of a palette (I heart Matte) that they had last year and I already have. You can see my blog post of the Sparkle 'Til Morning palette here. In this post I'm going to focus on the Shimmer the Night Away palette.

Top row is the left side of the palette and bottom row is the right side.

I really like this palette! It's not something that you would use everyday but the colors are really nice. The left side of the palette has some really great colors for going out/night looks. The silver color on the left side is so pigmented and creamy. I also really like the dark grey color below that. The black has lots of glitter in it but it's actually very pigmented and creamy as well. The light pink color (top color on right side) is not very pigmented. It took me a couple of good swipes for that swatch to show up on my hand. The bright blue color seems kind of chalky. I also really like the brighter pink color on right hand side. Overall, I think the left side of the palette is great and the right side will offer some color variety.

This palette retails for $4.99 and can be found at Walgreen's. You can find more info and swatches on Nouveaucheap.  By clicking here you can find a also see a map of where these palettes have been spotted.

Let me know if you have any questions or would like to see a look with a specific color in the palette!!
Thanks so much for reading!!

Wet & Wild Limited Edition Palette - Sparkle 'Til Morning

Hey All -

I finally found the Limited Edition Wet & Wild palettes that I've been looking for. I've literally stopped in almost every Walgreen's I see to check for these and finally one had them!! I got the last 2 (one of each) at the one I went to. So, before you go thinking why would I want to buy Wet & Wild cosmetics, that's the stuff I used to buy as a kid that was bad. However, they have since improved the quality of their products and are now one of my favorite drugstore brands!!

The 2 palettes I got are Sparkle 'Til Morning and Shimmer the Night Away. These palettes are from the Where's the Party Collection, just releasing to stores. The collection consists of 3 palettes, the two I named above that I purchased and then a third one called Drinking A Glass of Shine. This palette is a re-release of a palette (I heart Matte) that they had last year and I already have. In this post I'm going to focus on the Sparkle 'Til Morning palette.

This palette is awesome!!! The colors are very pigmented and creamy. That top cream color one is kind of hard to see in the swatch on my hand but it was there. Since these are so pigmented you don't have to use a lot of product. Also, these swatches are done without a primer underneath so the colors could potentially be more intensified if you used a primer or colored base underneath! The palette also comes with a double ended brush, a sponge tip applicator on one and a angled brush on the other. I never use these, but the sponge tip applicators are nice to have around. As you can see they do have it written on them how you could wear them, I never usually go by that. I pretty much just mix and match and come up with my own looks.

I will post pics of me wearing some looks I come up with using the palette once I have a chance to use it. If you spot these in Walgreen's and are looking for some pretty neutral colors (minus the teal/blue) I would pick this up. They retail for $4.99 - you can't beat that price!!

I found out about these palettes from one of my favorite bargain blogs Nouveaucheap. You can find more info and swatches on her website. Also, she has a map where you can see if anyone has spotted the palettes in your area. That can be found here.
